Biography

A community-engaged scholar

Dr. Kenneth Gyamerah is an Assistant Professor in the Frazer Faculty of Education at Ontario Tech University. A multidisciplinary and community-engaged scholar, his research focuses on STEM education, African-centred education, comparative and international education, decolonizing education, education policy, youth participatory action research, and teacher education. His work is grounded in collaborative partnerships with schools, educators, students, and communities to co-create knowledge and develop responsive approaches to complex educational and societal challenges. Dr.

Gyamerah's research has received competitive funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC). His scholarship has been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including Diaspora, Indigenous, and Minority Education; the International Journal of Social Research Methodology; Culture and Education; Encounters in Theory and History of Education; the Journal of International Students; and Comparative and International Education. He has contributed chapters to Canadian teacher-education textbooks, international edited volumes and handbooks, and multiple research reports for school boards, and has presented at major national and international conferences including AERA, CIES, UKFIET, the Canadian Sociological Association, and CSSE. He holds a PhD in Education from Queen's University, an MSc in Education Policy and International Development from the University of Bristol, UK, and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana. Dr.

Gyamerah is a Chevening Scholar and an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society, and serves as a policy and pedagogical expert with the UNESCO Inclusive Policy Lab. His work has been featured in University Affairs, the Queen's Gazette, Thomson Reuters, Commonwealth Voices, and the Global Partnership for Education. He serves in an advisory capacity with the Black Legal Action Centre and previously served on the executive committee of the Comparative and International Education Society of Canada.
